FOUNDER'S JOURNEY

The Journey Behind
Behest Of Nature

From a personal search for authentic Hapus to bringing India’s finest regional produce directly from the source to your kitchen.

OUR STORY

It began with a simple search for the real Hapus.

Every mango season, while buying Alphonso mangoes in the market, a question often came to mind: Were the mangoes sold as Hapus genuinely from the right variety and region? That curiosity led to a journey beyond the market—to Ratnagiri in the Konkan, where mango farms, farmers and the fruit itself could be experienced at source.

Visiting the farms offered a first-hand understanding of how authentic Alphonso is grown, harvested, sorted, graded and naturally ripened. It also brought to light the widespread use of calcium carbide for artificial ripening—something we did not want associated with the food offered to our customers.

After nearly two decades in marketing with a reputed publishing house in Mumbai, I left my job in 2023 to explore India's regional foods and connect with the farmers and producers behind them. The idea was simple: bring authentic food to consumers through a more direct and transparent connection with its source.

With our fresh Alphonso mangoes, we work directly with trusted farms in the GI-recognised Ratnagiri and Devgad regions. The mangoes are sorted, graded and naturally ripened before being carefully packed and sent to you.

At the heart of Behest Of Nature is a simple belief: farmers should receive fair value for what they grow, and consumers should know and trust the food they bring home.

What began with a search for the real Hapus has now grown into a journey across India, discovering foods that are authentic to their region, naturally produced and connected to the people who grow them.

Our next journey takes us to the West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, where we bring you authentic Lakadong Turmeric Powder—sourced from its region of origin and connected to the farmers who grow this remarkable spice.
